Thales EVP Yannick Assouad's comment piece on LinkedIn: 'The vital importance of "cybersecuring" aviation'

May 31. 2022  Yannick Assouad, EVP Avionics at Thales, has published an opinion piece on LinkedIn that focuses on the cybersecurity threats that face the aviation sector, and how these concerns have to be factored into the design of new products and systems, and catered for throughout their operational life cycle.

"We are living in an increasingly connected world and aviation is no exception to that trend. Whether in the cockpit, in the cabin or on the ground, connectivity is enabling a whole new dimension of flight safety, operational efficiency for airlines, and comfort and enjoyment for passengers. However, these new capabilities are also associated with critical cybersecurity concerns that have to be factored into the design of new products and systems, and catered for throughout their operational life cycle..."

In her latest LinkedIn opinion piece, Yannick Assouad illustrates how aviation is an increasingly connected ecosystem, from the ground to the onboard systems, whether in the cockpit or cabin-side. She explains how products and systems that equipment suppliers like Thales have to be cybesecure-by-design, and also shows what dedicated technologies and structures have been conceived to counter cybersecurity threats.
