Tomorrow's technologies on the move at the Thales Bordeaux campus

Dec 01. 2016

The NXP Smarter World Tour came to Bordeaux on 29 November, offering Thales staff an opportunity to discover a whole range of innovative technologies that could help shape the future of avionics.

Billed as a chance to interact with 150 Internet of Things demos, the NXP Smarter World Tour stopover at Mérignac was jointly organised with Aerospace Valley and the Digital Aquitaine cluster. It showcased embedded systems and IoT innovations for five main types of applications: smart, secure networks; connected medicine and medical devices; safe, connected cars; smart cities and energy management; and smart homes and buildings.

Onboard systems — from cockpit electronics to IFE architectures or secure connectivity solutions — account for more than 30% of the cost of an aircraft and will rely on many of the same technologies as were demonstrated at the event.
